Social media is the thief of our children’s undiscovered talents.
Being in elementary, middle school and high school has always been hard, but it is especially hard in today’s social media influenced world. It has been said that social media is the thief of our children’s undiscovered talents. We couldn’t agree more. Social media not only steals an inordinate amount of time from this age group, it exasperates every challenge and pressure, leaving our children, pre-teens and teenagers stressed-out, feeling less-than and left-out. This season of life, coupled with social media, is the perfect breeding ground for depression, anxiety, eating disorders and a myriad of social/relational issues.
Our therapists understand how sensitive this season of life is and how choices made may acutely affect a young person’s future, family and academics. Our therapists excel at relating to this age group in a trusting and relevant way. By providing a safe place for the young client to share, the therapist can begin to understand how he/she sees the world, their beliefs about themselves and others and their dreams. Our therapists foster an environment to not only support and encourage the young client, but also challenge the beliefs and behaviors which are counter to the client’s hopes and dreams. Utilizing highly researched and evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), we create a customized plan to help your adolescent or teen begin to live from a place of balance, healing, intention, and purpose.
